KIMBOLTON - EAST ANGLIAN TROPHY
Race day 1, saturday: circuit 2
The much awaited East Anglian Trophy weekend at Kimbolton was finally upon us, and with 29 drivers entered for both race days, it promised to be a fun weekend. On Friday for practice, both circuits were used, and we did a 42.3 on circuit 1, and 46.8 on circuit 2. Both times were around a half a second off, but we were using very old tyres so it was promising that we would be quick with new tyres on Saturday race day.
QUALIFYING
In qualifying, we had quite a lot of understeer, meaning I was a little off the pace, but I still managed to qualify 12th which wasn't too bad, and with 6th down to 18th being seperated by just 2 tenths of a second, it promised to be incredibly close.

HEAT 1
In heat 1, I started 13th after a slight issue with the qualifying grid, meaning I started one position too low - this was not a major problem though. After changing the handling setup in an attempt to compensate for the understeer in qualifying, it made the kart dramatically slow off the corners as the kart was unable to release for the majority of the race, due to us having too much grip. This meant that I fell back a few places in the race, unable to fight. I finished 15th.

HEAT 2
Just before the second heat, it started raining a lot and we didn't have time to buy new wet tyres (when others had already done so), so we had to put on whatever we had with us. Unfortunately, these tyres were terrible, with no tread on them, giving me no grip and leaving me unable to apply the accelerator without a huge kick of oversteer. This left me miles off the pace and dropping near the back, finishing 17th after some bumper penalties.

FINAL
It was still very wet for the final, and I started 15th, but this time I had new tyres on so we were due to be quick, and we were also due some luck. This did not come though as the electrics failed on the roll up lap, and I limped round for a few laps before the lag on the throttle was too bad to continue and I coasted into the pits. Other drivers also had also not finished so I was classified in 24th place. A terrible day in terms of luck, but we still had day 2, on circuit 1 which I am somewhat more familiar with.
