WMKC18 ROUND 8
The eighth round of the WMKC championship had 23 drivers entered with varying conditions, with a dry but green (not much grip) circuit on Saturday, and torrential rain and wet conditions on Sunday for the racing. In the practice, I was on very worn tyres and managed to get down to a 45.7, which was around half a second off the drivers with new tyres. This was not too bad, but it would prove unimportant as the racing conditions would be much more severe.
HEAT 1
The first heat was probably one of most best damage limitation drives ever. It started raining just minutes before the race, and with the whole team occupied and making changes, me and my dad only had time to change the tyres. This meant we were on dry gearing in wet conditions, which meant that we had next to no power off of the corners because in the dry you carry lots of corner speed and in the wet you are going a lot slower, hense needing more acceleration from the gearing. I should have finished very far down, but after starting 4th and gaining 3rd early on, I only lost a few places to finish 8th. This showed how good the AIRkart is in these conditions to compensate for the lack of power, and I also felt that I defended my positions brilliantly.

HEAT 2
For the second heat, I started 15th, and this being the first race I was competitive in, I struggled to see with the spray brought up from the other drivers when going through the water on circuit. I did manage to make up some places, and few penalties also helped me gain up to 6th place. This was a decent result, and we also had great pace, being 2nd quickest in sectors 2 and 3, whilst struggling to see in sector 1. A great showing for the AIRkart and me.

HEAT 3
In the third heat, I started 17th and had a good race to drive up to 9th. We were a little off the pace due to a lack of grip in the tyres, but still did well. We got a bumper penalty due to visibility being poor causing me to make slight contact, but we did not lose any places due to the gap to the rest of the pack being greater than the penalty.

FINAL
After top 10s in all 3 heats, I was starting 8th for the final, one point off starting 5th so in a way I was still a fraction unlucky. Unfortunately, some water got into the stator and caused me to have splutter on the rowling start, dropping back to around 15th. This was annoying because it pretty much ruined my chance of a top 3, but I still continued on to finish 9th on the road and 7th after penalties.

This was a great performance by the AIRkart, being quick in every race and allowing me to be in the top 10 all of the time. The weekend left me 6th in the championship, and still within good chance of gaining positions and getting higher up and rectifying our bad luck in earlier rounds. Thanks to all the family and AIR Motorsport.
