WMKC ROUND 9
Round 9 of the WMKC championship had 30 drivers entered and the most AIRkarts to ever attend a meeting (4). For me, it was a very unlucky weekend, but sometimes things don't go your way and you have to get over it. In practice, we had decent pace in both wet and dry, so we looked forward to the races.
HEAT 1
In the first heat, we started P2 for a damp race. We dropped to 3rd off the start as we were on the damp on the outside, but later in the lap I tried to retake 2nd, but the driver started to turn in, and I had no choice but to hit the kerb at a horrible angle, which bent the floor tray underneath the kart, causing it to scrape along the floor, causing me to have to retire. This was neither driver's fault, but was annoying on my part that the front starting heat was wasted in this way.

HEAT 2
The track had dried out for the second heat, but because we were fixing the floor from the first heat, we still had an all wet set up with the exception of tyres (gearing etc.), so we were relatively slow. The kart performed well though, and we still finished 17th. However, our row stopped on the way to the line again (just like at Kimbolton) giving us an unfair bumper penalty. This dropped us to a 19th place finish.

HEAT 3
In the 3rd heat, I started 27th, and had a decent race, with great pace from the AIRkart despite a bit of understeer, and I managed to finish 13th. Unfortunately, there was a crash in front of me which I could not avoid, causing me to hit one of the drivers involved and getting a bumper penalty. This caused me to drop to 25th, which was frustrating after such a good drive.

FINAL
After the DNF and 2 very unlucky bumper penalties, we qualified last place for the final. This was exciting in a way because we knew we were much better than this is we knew we would move forward. After a great drive, I overtook half the field to finish 14th. I was very happy with this, but after a kart spun in front of me on the first lap, I received another bumper penalty, which quite frankly summed up the day.

So, this weekend the AIRkart was robbed of some great results - especially the final, where I gained 16 positions. But we must move on, and despite the bad luck that we had this weekend, we are now in the Top 5 in the championship, meaning we have something to fight for. Thanks to AIR Motorsport for the help, and to my family for all the support.
