AIR Kart: First test (18th December 2017)
The first day of the AIR Kart winter testing is now complete. We spent the day learning the kart, whilst testing the new exhaust which will be mandatory from January 2018. The track was greasy all day, and whilst there was no rain all day, there was a lot of fog, meaning the sun could not dry out the track and the dampness stayed throughout the day. We only had extremely old wets, which were good in the middle of the day as they were just right for the circuit as there was not much rubber left on them, but the track was only damp and not wet. We managed to get down to 59.0, which was ok, as greasy conditions are often the most tricky as it is difficult to set the kart up for something right in the middle of a wet and a dry set up. The new exhaust was certainly an interesting prospect for the future, as initially it felt like there was more power, but it is too early to tell at this stage. Overall, the day was fun, and I look forward to the next one on the 27th. Thanks to Alex at AIR Motorsport for the opportunity, help and feedback.
